For a unique culinary experience, artists were invited to create dishware that celebrates experimentation and new ways to savor food. These dinners showcase contemporary cuisine, blending craft, design, gastronomy, and nature. Captivated by the structure revealed through wood-splitting, I contributed objects crafted from ash and elm wood initially intended for firewood. By assembling and shaping this seemingly disposable material, it gains new value. Splitting unveils something valuable that has grown over decades. The larger bowls (up to 1200mm) allow people seated further apart to connect, bridging distance at the table — much like the warmth of a shared fire once did.

Sourcing wood from the forest near my hometown, I let intuition guide the assembly — selecting pieces that naturally connect. Through splitting, carving, and sanding, the wood’s unique qualities emerge. A finish of beeswax enriches its natural warmth and depth.
